Electronic export information (EEI) [Ship/FX]

Electronic export information, known as EEI, is information about a shipment that must be filed through the Automated Commercial Environment (ACE). There are a number of requirements, but generally it must be filed for goods shipped from the U.S. to a foreign country. FedEx has a great breakdown here: Electronic Export Information filing requirements. According to the International Trade Administration, U.S. Department of Commerce:

The Electronic Export Information (EEI) is required documentation when the value of the commodity classified under each individual Schedule B number is over $2,500 or if a validated export license is required to export the commodity. The exporter is responsible for preparing the EEI and the carrier files it with U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) through the Automated Commercial Environment (ACE) and within that, AES Direct.

The U.S. Customs and Border Protection has more details on the Automated Commercial Environment (ACE) here: ACE and Automated Systems.

Whether you choose to self-file your Electronic Export Information (EEI) or authorize FedEx Export AgentFile® or UPS to file on your behalf, Ship/FX allows you to update the status of a shipment’s EEI filing.
